The Diploma of Government Investigations (PSP50416) is tailored for individuals involved in government investigations, particularly within regulatory compliance and enforcement. The course develops essential skills and knowledge for conducting effective investigations, ensuring compliance, and upholding ethical standards and public sector values.

Key competencies covered include:

  • Investigation Planning and Management: Setting investigation objectives, planning case management, engaging stakeholders, and developing compliance and enforcement policies.

  • Evidence Gathering and Analysis: Practical skills in collecting, managing, and analysing evidence, including fraud detection, risk-based case selection, forensic evidence, and witness identification.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, managing media relations, and preparing public statements.

  • Legal and Ethical Standards: Adherence to standards like AS 8001-2009 for fraud control, ensuring investigative practices withstand scrutiny from courts, the media, and government.

  • Reporting and Quality Assurance: Comprehensive reporting skills, including writing investigation reports, documenting findings, and identifying continuous improvement areas.

Graduates will be prepared for roles where investigative expertise is critical, such as compliance officers, regulatory enforcement officers, and fraud investigators, supporting integrity and accountability within government agencies.

    • To enrol, you’ll simply need to provide evidence of your current role or engagement with a public sector body.

    • Must be 18 years or over.

    • Successful completion of a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) test.

    • participation in a workplace simulated assessment activity

    • completion of an RPL kit for various units of competency

    • testing of underpinning knowledge through short answer questions, and

    • requests for learners to provide evidence of prior application of skills and pre-course assignment (where required and requested by the client)
