OVERVIEW
The Diploma of Procurement and Contracting (PSP50616) is designed for experienced procurement professionals seeking to strengthen their capability to lead and manage procurement and contracting activities in complex public sector environments.
It is suited to individuals with responsibility for managing or coordinating procurement activities, overseeing contracts, and contributing to procurement decisions in high-risk and high-value contexts.
This qualification focuses on developing advanced capability to lead end-to-end procurement processes, including planning, risk management, decision-making, contract performance, and compliance. It also strengthens capability in negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and procurement governance.
Training is workplace-based, enabling you to apply learning directly to procurement activities within your current role.

This qualification is suited to individuals responsible for managing or coordinating procurement and contracting activities within their organisation.
You will develop the ability to:
Plan and manage procurement and contracting activities across the lifecycle
Manage supplier selection and contribute to contract establishment
Manage contract performance and support contract finalisation
Apply procurement governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks
Conduct negotiations and manage stakeholder and supplier relationships
Contribute to procurement planning and decision-making

Be currently working in a procurement, contracting, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain-related roles within the Government or public sector environments or
Be a consultant or contractor providing procurement or contracting services to a public sector organisation
Have current experience in procurement or contracting activities involving application of procurement processes, such as:
Procurement planning or sourcing activities
Developing procurement or tender documentation
Evaluating suppliers, quotes, or offers
Contract management or supplier performance monitoring
Procurement risk, governance, or compliance activities
Be 18 years of age or older
Complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment
Hold a Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to commencement
If you do not have a USI, you can create one at www.usi.gov.au
Provide evidence of current role and procurement or contracting responsibilities (e.g. resume, position description, or contract/scope of work documentation)
Complete a short pre-training review to confirm suitability for this qualification

To achieve this qualification, you must complete 13 units of competency, including 9 core units and 4 elective units.

PSPPCM013 - Make procurement decisions

BSBPUR504 - Manage a supply chain
PSPGEN054 - Use complex workplace communication strategies
PSPPCM015 - Conduct and manage coordinated procurement

Assessment is designed to demonstrate your ability to manage procurement and contracting activities across the procurement lifecycle in real or simulated contexts.
Assessment may include:
Practical tasks and projects aligned to end-to-end procurement and contracting activities
Scenarios, role plays, and observation of applied skills involving decision-making
Short-answer questions and written responses
Reflective tasks linked to procurement decisions and contract management practice
Use of organisational or provided documentation where appropriate
Assessment tasks are to be completed within 3 weeks following the final scheduled training session. Participants are also required to complete self-directed study outside of scheduled training sessions.
Full assessment requirements and submission timelines are provided upon enrolment.

On successful completion of all required units, participants will be awarded the PSP50616 Diploma of Procurement and Contracting qualification.
A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any units completed if the full qualification is not achieved.

You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer for individual units based on your existing skills, experience, or previous study.
